Laura graduated from Southern Oregon with a Bachelor’ Degree in Psychology. She then went onto to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University, graduating in 2018. During her education, Laura gained outpatient clinical experience working with individuals of all ages at Community Counseling Center of Ashland, as well as experience working with young adults at Kairos Three Bridges psychiatric residential treatment program.

Since completing her education, Laura has worked at Options Counseling and Family Services in Clackamas, OR, providing outpatient counseling and crisis support to children, adolescents, and adults. Laura has experience working with a wide range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal conflict, self- esteem issues, stressors related to life transitions, and LGBTQIA+ issues. Laura has been trained in person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness- based cognitive therapy, motivational interviewing, and somatic- based interventions. She is currently pursuing training in several trauma- focused modalities including Internal Family Systems as well as EMDR.

Prior to becoming a mental health therapist, Laura provided support and advocacy for survivors of domestic abuse while working at several violence programs in Jackson and Lane counties. She then went on provide support and teach skills to at-risk youth in residential settings through LookingGlass in Eugene, Oregon, Janus Youth Programs in Portland, Oregon as well as Northland Family Help Center in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Laura is excited to have joined the Rising Phoenix Counseling team in July 2023 where she offers individual counseling to adolescents and adults, as well as family and group counseling. She is passionate about helping clients reach their fullest potential through the counseling process.
