Common Questions
-
At the beginning of therapy, the initial intake will be 1-1 ½ hours for us to explore important background information. During this time, you are given the chance to get to know who you are working with and to allow you to make an informed decision of your mental health journey. We encourage empowerment of your journey by choosing the right therapist for you. If you feel like your provider is not a good fit, please feel free to contact our client care coordinator to assess others options. In the process of establishing the therapeutic relationship, we will work collaboratively with you to determine the duration and frequency of sessions to reflect your goals. During this time, feel free to ask us any questions you may have about the process of counseling or how your provider can help you in reaching your goals.
The number of sessions will depend on the complexity of your goal, change happens at different rates. You are in control over the process in our sessions. We honor your progress along the way and we are here to support you in any way we can. We trust that you can overcome the challenges of the past/present through the supportive guidance of our trauma informed therapists.

We will not voluntarily participate in any litigation, or custody dispute in which a client is involved. Because the client-therapist relationship is built on trust with the foundation of that trust being confidentiality, it is often damaging to the therapeutic relationship for the therapist to be asked to present records to the court, testify whether factual or in an expert nature, in court or deposition.
We will also not make any recommendation as to custody or visitation regarding our clients. We will generally not provide records or testimony unless compelled to do so by a court.

Yes. We currently accept the following insurance (and some others). Typically, you pay your co-pay and we bill your insurance company for you: Aetna, AllCare (OHP), Cigna, Jackson Care Connect (OHP), MODA, MVA, OHP Open Card, PacificSource, Regence / Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
We also accept self-pay clients who are concerned about privacy related to insurance company involvement in treatment. For those clients that do not have insurance AND have a limited ability to self-pay, we provide reduced fee sessions (on request). We are happy to bill your insurance or provide receipts for you to bill on your own or for a health savings account (HSA/FSA).

Therapy requires an ongoing commitment to creating lasting change. Best results are achieved through consistent (usually weekly) appointments with your therapist.
When you make an appointment you are reserving that time for yourself. We make every effort to schedule a consistent time weekly that will be convenient to your schedule. If you cancel an appointment with more than 24 hours notice you will not be charged.
However, if you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours “Business Day” notice (or no notice), you will be charged a fee for the missed appointment (insurance will not be billed for missed sessions.
Finally, please note that appointments that start late will on most occasions end on time.
