cHRISTINA LOWE, RDN, LD, CEDRD (Mental Health Registered DIETITIAN)
Christina Lowe graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2014. She went on to complete her dietetic internship at Oregon Health and Science University. She is a Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration and is licensed by the state of Oregon. During her dietetic internship she completed 1200 hours of clinical, foodservice and community nutrition dietetics. She completed dietetic rotations at Asante Three Rivers and Asante Rogue Valley Medical Center, Jackson County Women Infants and Children (WIC), Southern Oregon VA, Davita Dialysis clinic, HeadStart and Sodexo Southern Oregon School District.
She obtained experience working with mental health and substance abuse at the Southern Oregon, White City VA (SORCC). Soon after her internship she was hired on at the SORCC in the residential rehabilitation treatment program, helping veterans with their nutrition needs during recovery from substance abuse and mental health complications.
In July 2018, Christina completed a 24 hour VA Mental Health Eating Disorder training to understand how to implement standards of practice for eating disorder care within the VA system. This process included education on eating disorders in veterans, medical overview, multidisciplinary case presentations and discussions with providers, eating disorder clinic model and implementation, basic screening, CBT-E model and rationale, pyschopharmology of eating disorders and reproductive health. With this training she recruited an interdisciplinary team consisting of Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Mental Health therapist, and two dietitians to help collaborate and care for the residential patients suffering with eating disorders.
Having a passion for helping her patients find peace with their food, in March 2019, Christina obtained her Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) certification. This certificate included 3,000 hours of supervised practice involving individual therapy, individual nutrition counseling and medial education, group therapy and group counseling, administering treatment plans and supervision consultations.
Christina has also participated in eating disorder research at an inpatient treatment center in Arizona, where she was involved with data collection and interpretation with eating disorders and genetic pre-dispositions.
Christina has served on state and national level nutrition boards. Currently she is the membership chair for the Oregon Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and the Sponsorship chair for Behavioral Health Nutrition Dietetics practice group. She also has experience serving as the Educational Convention Chair and Nomination Committee Chair.
Christina is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder professionals (IADEP), the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians (IFEDD).
Christina has a continued desire to learn, serve and is driven to improve eating disorder care in the Rogue Valley. Her goal is to improve her clients relationship with food and bring joy back into eating and nourishing the body.
